My Notable Medical Media Projects

Video Explainers for Training and Promoting Health Literacy

I’ve completed a consultant’s course on developing a YouTube channel, which provided me with the necessary skills to understand how to produce compelling videos.

Presently, I’m working with various pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, as well as individual researchers, on constructing videos that not only provide a fair representation of their work, but also clarity in the value of their strategic advantages.

MedComm Training Material for Pharmaceutical Reps

Recently, I was called in for this MedComm project while the first section was already underway. The need became apparent that the client was requiring a higher standard of medical accuracy for their training materials.

For the second section, I was there from the beginning, where the client wanted custom digital illustrations, with the latest thinking about the mechanism of action for the immunological therapy. They had to conform to right level of scientific detail without losing essential items or being too complex.

I developed these illustrations, drawing by hand. The Med Comm asked me to give the Zoom presentation to the client’s staff. My 40-minute presentation was accepted well, with one member saying this was the best presentation she had ever seen. The Med Comm scheduled me for a another presentation for the client as the project was ending. In the end, it satisfied regulatory review.

My prep work for the illustration as also saved the agency extra expense for extended editing from a Photoshop professional.

CME Agency Work for Contact Lens Project

This started with developing the needs assessment In the context of contact lens education, understanding both learner needs and programmatic requirements. One aspect was summarizing the potential contaminating infectious agents.

One of my research projects as Brooklyn College was studying this particular topic, looking at Acanthamoeba, spp, appearing in several clinical reports of Acanthamoeba keratitis, of which I was already aware.

Brand Development for Wolff-Olins

I was brought in by a NYC branding agency for a project where the client was a laboratory equipment producer that was purchasing several clinical testing companies, and they required a re-branding effort to envision the new direction.

This was a tight deadline, and required calling the managers and scientists of each newly-purchased lab, to get their input. It was a tense time for them, with uncertainty about the outcomes this purchase. The resulting brochure met the deadline, and ensure a good relationship with new freelance client.

Buprenorphine Clinic Article

The clinical director of this this major NYC hospital required a 48-hour turnaround for rewriting the personal notes of a researcher into the style required for journal publication.

Webinar Production for PalmOne’s Treo Smartphone, Highlighting Its Clinical Use

As a surgical resident covering the ICU, I found the Treo’s use for doing searches from reliable websites an aid to managing my patients. This was at a time when there were reports of cell phones interfering with monitoring equipment. But my research dispelled this concern.

I had contacted Walter Mossberg, the tech journalist for the WSJ at that time, relating my experience. He mentioned this to PalmOne who suggested I produce this webinar. The audience consisted mostly of physicians and was well received, and certainly ahead of its time.

Clinical Pathology Mentorship with Dr. Matthew Pincus

My mentor Dr. Matthew Pincus, is known for his work in designing a group of anti-cancer peptides from the ras-p21 and p53 proteins using protein-folding computing. I produced the graphics for his papers and presentations using 3-D graphics software using the Sun Microsystems workstation.

I worked with Dr. Pincus as co-author for his chapter on tumor markers in one edition of the standard clinical pathology text Henry's Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods.
